About Indievania

Indievania is an open platform for independent developers to sell their games directly to players and keep 100% of their game profits. Our focus is on cross platform DRM-free games directly from developers with no middle men and no extra software for players to install.

Players can redownload games at any time after purchase, and developers can continually update their game and release new versions. All games are accepted at any stage in development, with popular new releases and special/promotions being showcased on the front page and our facebook/twitter streams - allowing developers to sell beta/alpha versions of their game to fund development.

Indievania was developed by indie developers Alientrap. Bandwidth and site hosting costs are provided by customers in checkout, where they are given an option to donate (extra donations on top of purchases are split between the developer and the site).

Key Features for Developers:

  • Direct to developer payment - Unlike other game distribution networks Indievania does not take the traditional 30% of the sale, and there is no wait for the payment and no need to invoice. The payment goes directly to the developer's PayPal. Indievania use's Paypal's microtransaction features, meaning PayPal fees are only 5% + $0.05 USD, allowing developers to sell very low priced games (as low as $0.99) and retain high profits.
  • Completely Open System - Any game developer can add their game to Indievania and sell it within a day. Once a game is submitted it will be held in moderation until an administrator approves it and uploads the files to our storage. Only games that are malicious or completely unfunctional will be rejected. If a game is popular or of good quality, it will be 'featured' on the front page and in our RSS/Twitter/Facebook feeds. The focus is on giving all developers a platform to sell their games, while still having the quality projects being showcased to site visitors.
  • Prototype / Alpha / Beta Stage - Developers can submit and sell their games at an early stage in development. This way they can fund development and allow player's to update their game to the latest versions easily.
  • Custom store page and control - Developers will have complete control of their store page and price, and can remove their game from the site at any time. Store pages can also advertise the developer's website, their twitter feed, their facebook fan page, and link to their most recent RSS blog posts. The goal of the site is to have Indievania engage players with the developers through their own networks and channels.
